Mike Tyson Versus Jake Paul Fight Was a No-Win for Paul Either Way

It is 11:00 Friday night and I’m waiting to watch the Tyson versus Paul fight. Now I don’t want to negate the two ladies who are fighting before the main event, because women’s boxing should be on the same ticket and level as a great male champion event like this. Yet, I’m old and I’m tired. I’m trying to stay awake to see Tyson and I’ve already taken 2 disco naps.

But on a serious note, I’m writing this article before the fight because I think it needs to be said that it’s a no-win situation for Jake Paul. This fight is kind of symbolic of what America is going through now: It’s pompous privilege vs the stereotypes of savagery — arrogance vs a seasoned and beloved athlete. It’s also the toxic delusions of man-child against a beast…and like most children, they don’t respect or understand history.

The fact that Jake Paul actually said that Tyson “must die” was a little problematic in our current climate — even if he said it as pregame hype. As an influencer, he knows the power of words. Sadly, this is a no-win situation for Jake. If he wins, he will beat a retired, and beloved boxing legend. On a human level in America — he beat up an older Black man. Sadly, the spectacle of…
